"Soldier in Iraq watches birth of Baby on TV"

(November 29, 2005): A Mother at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas gave birth to a baby girl yesterday while her Father watched from his Air Force station in Iraq.  Through the Texas Health Resources (THR) VisCom videoconferencing network, the proud parents were able to talk and share during the four hour experience culminating in the C-section delivery.

The event was enabled by the directPacket Research STNS gatekeeper and firewall traversal solution.  The solution allowed THR to move videoconferencing units from their normal home room locations in different buildings to the waiting room and operating room quickly and efficiently.  STNS tracked movement of the units, maintaining registration and dial plan connectivity.  STNS then enabled the video call to pass through the THR firewall to connect with the remote system in Iraq.
